Catch the Spirit!

Welcome to The Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon & FRONTRUNNER Relay presented by Toyota. Join over 3000 amateur runners from 30 states and 50 elite runners from 5 countries at the inaugural Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon, featuring one of the fastest half marathon courses in the country. The race highlights a very unique point-to-point gradual downhill course giving participants breathtaking views of the Scioto River and the downtown Columbus skyline. Relay participants will split the half marathon with their partners. Racers will park downtown and be shuttled to the starting line or the relay tag area at Griggs Reservoir. All runners will be treated to a "Red Carpet" experience featuring lots of course entertainment, technical shirts, and a bigger-than-big finisher medal that will become the focal point of your race collection. Elite runners from around the world will be competing for a $25,000 prize purse and the chance to set a national record on the downhill course. In addition, there will be a $5000.00 Master (40+) prize purse and a $5000.00 Wheelchair prize purse.

Columbus is the capital and the largest city of the American state of Ohio. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. The population was 711,470 at the 2000 census. In 2006 Columbus was ranked as the 15th largest city in the United States, with 733,203 residents, and was the country's 32nd largest metropolitan area. Located near the geographic center of the state, Columbus is the county seat of Franklin County, although parts of the city also extend into Delaware and Fairfield counties.
