Course Details:


The race highlights a very unique point-to-point gradual downhill course giving participants breathtaking views of the Scioto River and the downtown Columbus skyline. Relay participants will split the half marathon with their partners. Racers will park downtown and be shuttled to the starting line or the relay tag area at Griggs Reservoir. Elite Open & Masters: 7:30 a.m.

Pace Limits:


All participants MUST be able to maintain
a 15 minute per mile pace or faster.

Awards:


All finishers will receive bigger-than-big finisher medals. The top five overall males and females will receive special awards. In addition, the top five in all age groups (15-19, 20-24 up to 75+), Cruisers, Walkers and all relay teams divisions will receive awards.

Elite Prize Money:


Top professionals from the U.S. and around te world are competing for a total Elite Open prize purse of $25,000. ALL Male and Female Elites are competing for the main prize purse. Contact Doug Grout at dgrout@victorymanracing.com to be considered for our complimentary entry and homestay program.

Elite Prize Money Course Record Bonus:


If (when) the top overall male or female finisher breaks the "Current" Course, American or World Record time for the half marthon distance, they will receive the following bonus on top of the regular purse prize. NOTE: Only one award of the three would be paid out to the athlete. Meaning, the athlete would receive the highest award.

Break the Current Course Record = Bonus $1,000
Break the American Course Record = Bonus $2,500
Break the World Course Record = Bonus $5,000

Elite Qualifying Information:


Elite "A" Men (5:20min per mile)
Marathon - 2:19:50 or less
1/2 Marathon - 1:09:55
Elite "A" Women (5:50min per mile)
Marathon - 2:32:57 or less
1/2 Marathon - 1:16:28 or less

Elite "B" Men (5:45min per mile)
Marathon - 2:30:45 or less
1/2 Marathon - 1:15:23 or less
Elite "B" Women (6:25min per mile)
Marathon - 2:48:14 or less
1/2 Marathon - 1:24:07 or less

Qualifying Window: January 1, 2006 - July 31, 2009
Qualifying Guidelines:
  • The qualifying time must be made in a race on a certified course recognized by USA Track & Field or a member federation of the international Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
  • All qualifying performances are subject to verification.

  • "Gun" time is the only acceptable method of timing. Chip/net times cannot be used for qualifying.

  • Elite athletes must meet the "B" standard in order to enter the Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon.


  • Master Prize Money:


    Top Master (40+) runners from around the U.S. are competing for a total prize purse of $5,000.00.
